• 💡 新课打法：这课是阅读理解，不是生词课——别让她背单词表，要让她“讲出故事”。三个菜的烦恼各是一句话，复述时先给开头 “People forgot that…”，她接后半句；because 已经是她的自由武器，笑话那句 “Because rabbits ___.” 正好让她自己填（答案：don't wear glasses / never wear glasses——兔子根本不用戴眼镜，所以胡萝卜对视力好是“不用证明”的笑话）。

root：根 / 根本——这两个意思根本就是一家人，而且 radish 也是这家人。root 来自古英语 rōt（根），往上追是拉丁语 radix，意思就是“根”；radish（小萝卜）就是从 radix 来的——小萝卜本身就是一截根，所以叫 radish；radical（根本的、激进的）也是 radix 的孩子——“回到根上”就是“根本的”。记住画面：一截小萝卜就是一截根，root、radish、radical 全是“根”字辈。课上遇到 root 先问一句：这里是植物的“根”，还是事情的“根本”？答对了这个，root 就再也不会混了。 （顺带：meeting 在这里是“开会”，不是“遇见”——蔬菜们晚上聚在一起诉苦，所以叫 Root Vegetables' Meeting；meet 的名词就是 meeting，和“遇见”同源，聚到一起才叫开会。）
